Dian-in Modem Services for Student and Staff Policy

Limited dial-in modem services will be provided to Monash authorised students and staff, and capacity will be reviewed as the current equipment approaches the end of its useful lifecycle.

On request, Monash distance education students will be provided with a dial-in modem account, an email account and may access standard online services available on the Monash network and the Internet.

On request from the Disability Liaison Office, disabled students will be provided with a dial-in modem account, an email account and may access standard online services available on the Monash network and the Internet.

On request, Post Graduate students will be provided with a dial-in modem account, an email account and may access standard online services available on the Monash network. These services and access to the Internet are available via the University's computer laboratories, or through an account with any internet service provider (ISP), The University has negotiated attractive rates with an ISP on behalf of Monash students and staff.

The dial-in modem services may be used by staff to access the University's messaging services and the Internet, subject to the approval of the staff member's head of department. Nevertheless it may be considered that the University's negotiated arrangement with a third party ISP is more suitable.
