Purpose | To ensure that the rights of both the university and the candidate are protected when HDR candidature is terminated or not confirmed. |

Policy Statement | The university has the right to recommend non-confirmation of candidature or termination of candidature of a HDR student for unsatisfactory progress or non compliance with relevant procedures or regulations.
The candidate has the right to due process and a fair hearing where proceedings for non confirmation of candidature or termination of candidature are initiated.
Should failure to comply with relevant regulations and procedures provide grounds for a charge of research misconduct under the Discipline Statute, as well as grounds for termination under the Research Graduate School Committee Regulations, the Research Graduate School Committee will determine which is to apply.
