Saving of Rights ProceduresPlease note that these procedures have not yet been revised or converted to the new format . A faculty board has to be satisfied about two matters before the saving provision operates at all
If 1 and 2 (above) are the case "the faculty board may permit the candidate to qualify for the degree" under an earlier "equivalent standard" version of the regulations. Use of "may" in the provision gives a faculty board a discretion as to whether or not to permit an earlier version of the regulations to be followed in an individual case, even though the matters at 1 and 2 (above) have been decided in favour of the candidate. Use of "must" in place of "may" here would direct a faculty board to give the relevant permission to a candidate in every case where 1 and 2 (above) had been decided in that candidate's favour. ScopeThese procedures apply to all students and faculties. Related Documents
