English Language Requirements Policy

Purpose

To ensure admissions processes are consistent across the University and that all applicants for degrees have the English skills to perform well in their studies.

Scope

Applicants for non-HDR or coursework programs at the University.

Policy Statement

There are minimum English language entry requirements for courses at Monash University which applicants must meet in order to be considered for admission. These requirements are set out in detail in the English Language Entry Requirements for Coursework Programs Procedures.

While the minimum standards must be met by all students, there is a recognition that, for students entering via special access pathways, study scores may understate a student’s English ability and hence appropriate adjustment may be made with the approval of Coursework Admissions and Scholarships Committee.
