About Monash Policy and Procedures

The Policy and Procedures website provides:

• the governance principles for university policies
• the university's policy approval delegations
• information about Monash University’s approach to policy development and review
• a searchable Policy Bank A-Z Index of university-wide policies and procedures.
• a link to the University's legislation

Policies and procedures can be searched for by key word or within policy categories that are aligned with the university’s organisational structure.

Relationship to university legislation

It is important that the university’s statutes and regulations be checked prior to policy development/review to ensure consistency and prevent duplication. University policies must not cover the same matter as statutes or regulations. If it is considered that there is a need to review or repeal a piece of university legislation, this must be referred to the University Solicitor's Office.  

Please note that the policy bank does not contain faculty or campus policies.

What can you do in this site?

Policy users can:

• Browse the Policy Bank A-Z Index and Search for university-wide policies and procedures
• Create Favourites through the Monash portal to set up quick links to frequently used policies and procedures

Policy developers can:

• Read and download instructions for writing policy and procedures
• Download development templates for policy and procedures
• Submit or amend approved policies and/or procedures online (using the Content Management System)
